2 Things To Think About When Choosing A New Central Air Conditioner

When you are trying to replace your central air conditioner, there are a lot of things that you need to consider before you make your final purchase. If you think about these things or talk to someone at the HVAC dealership about your questions, you should be able to find the air conditioning system that will work for you and your needs. So, what are some of the things that you are going to need to think about?

Square Footage

One of the things that you are going to need to consider is how much square footage your house has. You need to know that so that you don't get an air conditioner that is too big or too small. If it is too big, it will never run through a full cooling cycle, which can cause your air conditioner to not work as well. If it is too small, your house won't be cooled to where you want, and the air conditioner will run all the time. The way to figure out your house's square footage is to measure the length and the width of each room, multiply those numbers, and then add up all the results. If you have an awkwardly shaped room, you can break it down into a series of squares or rectangles. Then you can measure those out and get the results.

Energy Efficiency

Running your air conditioner can cost you a lot of money. Depending on how long your summer is, you can end paying hundreds of dollars to your electric company. The more energy-efficient your air conditioner is, the less you are going to end up paying when it comes to your electric bill. The way to find the most energy-efficient air conditioner is to look for the energy star rating. The higher the energy star rating is, the more efficient the air conditioner is. As the rating goes higher, so does the price of the air conditioner, but what you pay on the front end, you can save on the back end, since you will be saving money on your electric bill over the life of your air conditioner.

Making sure that you have the right air conditioner is important for your home's comfort. Taking the time to look at the different systems and considering how they will work in your house will let you choose the one that will work best for you.
